Mobile hospital project
The larger cities in Australia are well equipped to deal with medical emergencies and our ageing population with medical facilities, private and public hospitals, and a bounty of specialist clinics. However, it is not quite the same story in our regional areas.
As our population soars and ages at the same time, so, too, does the need to increase and improve facilities. With capital works programs being rolled out in a number of key regional hospitals across the country, now, more than ever, it is important to maintain capacity in these more regional locations.
Lavender Composites is helping solve this issue by supplying ThermoTec panels to Medical Designs, a company that manufactures world-class mobile, modular, demountable health units used as operating theatres, wards, birthing suites and local emergency rooms.
These life-saving mobile hospitals are soundproofed and air-conditioned and can be moved by prime mover or boat. These units are integral to the normal running of a rural hospital while undergoing capital works, or when experiencing operational difficulties due to natural disasters such as fire and flood.
When the manufacturer of these mobile hospitals first came up with the concept of creating these world-class units to help with the ongoing and increasing demand for rural healthcare, they had not yet encountered Lavender Composites.
After a period of research, Medical Designs found Lavender through the internet. They were attracted that Lavender could provide local support and had the products and the experience to help them design and engineer their unique modular demountable unit.
Lavender Composites Sales Manager Doug McDonald visited Medical Designs to talk through the array of panel solutions. With his vast experience, Doug worked with the Medical Designs team to choose the best product to meet their exact specifications.
Medical Designs were really impressed with both the product quality and delivery times from Lavender. “The product turned up straight away and had no quality issues.” They also greatly valued the input from Doug in relation to which product best suited their application and how to best install it. “Doug gave us all the engineering specs, the R Rating, and other information. He ensured we had all the important data on temperature and thermal insulation, as well as panel strength, so that we could create the best mobile medical unit possible, and it worked! We are absolutely happy with our connection with Lavender Composites and enjoy working with the team.”
